BRICS is looking for practical mechanisms to lower transaction costs in bilateral trade and strengthen cooperation and investment within the group, an Indian government source said ahead of the September 12–13 summit. Talks on settlements in national currencies and central bank digital-currency platforms are intended as a supplement to existing global payment systems, not as measures against any country or group.
