Hafidh Ameir Hassan, the husband of Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, has died while being treated at a hospital in Zanzibar. Vice-President Deogratius Ndejembi said he had a heart condition and that funeral arrangements were under way in Kizimkazi. An agricultural academic, Hassan kept a low public profile and became Tanzania’s first First Gentleman after Samia took office in 2021.
