CultureArtist-led project turns former poor Guangxi village into cultural tourism destination
Chixi Village in Beihai, Guangxi, once a registered poor village, has developed into a cultural tourism destination after two years of work with artists from Tsinghua University’s Academy of Arts and Design. Public installations, farming activities and study tours now draw visitors; the village received 85,000 in 2025 and earned more than 3 million yuan.
