WorldRome ramps up security around Colosseum with new ‘red zone’ targeting criminals
Rome has established a four-month enhanced-control “red zone” covering the Colosseum, Imperial Forums and Colle Oppio. The order follows reports of predatory crime, drug dealing, fights and a July confrontation in which about 50 people allegedly resisted police and injured two officers. Authorities may remove people linked to specified offenses who behave violently, threateningly or persistently disruptively.
