Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Germany closed Russia’s consulate general in Bonn to undermine diplomats’ preparations for Russia’s upcoming parliamentary elections. She said voting in Germany would proceed as planned. Berlin also announced the closure of Russian House activities in Berlin and tighter entry controls for Russian citizens.
