France has rejected Niger’s allegation that Paris helped foment a mutiny in which soldiers attacked a military base and the presidential palace in Niamey, calling it “pure fantasy”. Niger has broadened its accusations to unnamed neighbours, while French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said France had neither the intention nor the means to mobilise such an operation.
