TechScan finds 96,000 fake-address outputs clogging Bitcoin’s unspent database
Blockchain data firm Bitquery found 96,231 fake-address text outputs across a scan of 965,135 Bitcoin blocks. Unlike OP_RETURN data, which remains in block history without entering the spendability-checking database, these outputs persist in the UTXO set and contain about 3.2 BTC that is effectively unspendable.
