ScienceSiberian crane population database to be created at Yakutia national park

A two-year study at Kytalyk National Park in Yakutia’s Arctic Zone will create a database of the critically rare Siberian crane population, including nest coordinates, descriptions and photographs, alongside a regional distribution map. Researchers used drones for the first time to survey more than 800,000 square kilometers and plan cooperation between Russian and Chinese protected areas to monitor the species along its migration route.
