ScienceUSDA to test satellites and AI to improve crop estimates amid criticism

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is launching a pilot project to use satellites, artificial intelligence and other technology more heavily to improve closely watched estimates of U.S. crop acreage and yields. Secretary Brooke Rollins announced the effort as farmers and traders increasingly criticize the reliability of government agricultural data.
