HealthWHO warns of looming health crisis as Gaza heads into rainy season

The WHO says winter rains could worsen Gaza’s entrenched public health crisis, as water quality deteriorates and diarrhoea cases rise. Testing of about 6,700 samples found microbiological contamination increased from below 6 percent in January to above 18 percent in August, while acute diarrhoea cases rose from roughly 27,000 to more than 48,000. Flooding could spread sewage and contaminated water into places where people sleep, cook and care for relatives.
