HealthDRC confirms more than 6,000 Ebola cases as deaths near 3,000

The Democratic Republic of Congo has confirmed 6,041 Ebola cases, with 2,911 deaths and 619 patients isolated or hospitalised. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called it the fastest-spreading Ebola epidemic ever recorded. Concentration in conflict-affected eastern provinces, travel restrictions and a healthcare workers’ strike are hampering the response.
