EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said EU ships intercepted and boarded the Cameroon-flagged tanker MV SUN in the Mediterranean on August 30 for flag verification. She alleged the vessel was using a false flag and carrying Russian oil, saying the action sought to block funding for Russia’s economy. Kallas called it the sixth suspected shadow-fleet tanker inspected by EU countries this year.
