HealthSpain records 5,232 heat-related deaths this summer

Spain has recorded a record 5,232 deaths linked to extreme heat during the summer, including 2,147 in August alone. People over 65 accounted for 5,048 of the deaths, with those over 85 the most vulnerable. Meteorologists said the first half of 2026 was the country’s warmest in 65 years.
