Specialty fruits are reaching peak harvest in Xinjiang, where improved cultivation, processing and marketing are raising rural incomes. In Yengisar County, 3,133 hectares of locally developed xinmei plums have matured, creating seasonal work for more than 1,000 villagers. Better fig preservation and expanded sales are also opening new markets.
