PoliticsOpponents of EU accession talks lead in Iceland referendum, TV says
Preliminary results from five of Iceland’s six electoral districts show opponents of resuming negotiations with the EU in the lead, RUV TV reported. Some 52.5% of voters, or more than 99,000 people, voted against restarting talks, while 47.5%, nearly 89,500, supported them. Opponents fear EU members could gain fishing rights in Icelandic waters.
