HM Revenue & Customs says 17,600 people reported £13.8 billion in cryptoasset disposal proceeds and £1.38 billion in gains for the 2024–25 tax year. Just 240 investors, each reporting more than £1 million, accounted for £717 million. Under new reporting rules, HMRC expects to receive crypto-provider data from 2027.
