WorldUkraine’s ambassador summoned in Turkey over shelling of Turkish vessels

Ukraine’s ambassador to Ankara, Nariman Dzhelyalov, was summoned to Turkey’s Foreign Ministry over the reported shelling of the Turkish bulk carrier Lider Bordo Mavi near Tuapse on August 26. The vessel caught fire and five crew members were injured; another Turkish ship sent to tow it was fired on the next day. Turkish officials said attacks on merchant vessels were inadmissible and warned Ukraine to protect life, property, shipping and the environment in the Black Sea.
