Meta Platforms agreed to settle a major social media addiction lawsuit brought by California and 28 other states, paying $18 billion and strengthening child-safety measures on its platforms. The suit accused the company of contributing to the youth mental-health crisis, designing addictive features for children and concealing them. A judge must approve the settlement.
