WorldCollapsed glacier likely caused devastating Nepal-Tibet floods, scientists say

Scientists say a glacier near Nepal’s Langtang Lirung peak likely collapsed and triggered the deadly flash flood on the Nepal-Tibet border. Ice and rock debris surged into a tributary, pushing downstream water levels up by seven to nine metres within 30 minutes. Experts warn that melting Himalayan ice and thawing permafrost are increasing such hazards.
