TechSolana takes first step toward sub-second speed with 350ms slot reduction
Solana’s mainnet has reduced its target slot time from 400 milliseconds to 350 milliseconds in the first stage of a planned speed upgrade. Post-change telemetry recorded a 365.4ms mean slot spacing and a 0.077% skipped-slot rate. Further stages toward 300ms, 250ms and 200ms are planned, but the 300ms step was still pending as of Aug. 26.
