ScienceCyborg cockroaches with tiny syringes could join disaster search-and-rescue teams

Researchers from the University of Queensland and UNSW are testing giant burrowing cockroaches fitted with cameras and remotely activated miniature injectors. The insects are intended to locate people in collapsed buildings or caves and deliver emergency aid where rescuers cannot safely reach. Tests recorded 95% success for close-range injections and 72% for the full navigation-and-injection task.
