The Palace Museum’s The Night Revels of Han Xizai went on public display at an exhibition in Hangzhou on Saturday, its first such showing since 2011. Attributed to Five Dynasties artist Gu Hongzhong, the scroll portrays a banquet held by Southern Tang minister Han Xizai and is regarded as both a landmark of Chinese figure painting and a record of the era’s clothing, instruments and customs.
