HealthWHO, Africa CDC welcome allocation of Ebola vaccines to DRC

WHO and Africa CDC welcomed an initial allocation of 70,000 Merck Ervebo doses to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Fifty thousand will go to frontline and health workers, while 20,000 will support a Phase 3 trial examining possible protection against Bundibugyo virus, for which no approved vaccine or treatment currently exists. Confirmed cases have surpassed 5,000, with 2,378 deaths, and WHO says the outbreak remains a global emergency.
