Canada’s secretary of state for international development, Randeep Sarai, announced new humanitarian programmes during a visit to Lebanon, bringing Ottawa’s assistance this year to more than $50m. He condemned what he called Israel’s “unlawful invasion” and urged respect for Lebanon’s sovereignty.
