PoliticsWhy is Ukraine’s ex-defence minister calling for wartime elections?

Former Ukrainian defence minister Mykhailo Fedorov has urged elections during the war, a move seen as a major challenge to President Volodymyr Zelensky. Elections have been suspended under martial law since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022. Fedorov has not explained how free and fair voting could take place during the war or said whether he would run against Zelensky.
