HealthExtreme heat poses far greater danger to older people than previously realised
Stanford researchers say human heat tolerance limits are lower than previously estimated, with age a major risk factor. Older adults reach uncompensable heat stress at lower temperatures than younger people, leaving many more exposed to heat-related illness or death as the climate warms. People aged 65 and over face exposure at 1.5C of warming comparable to younger adults at 4C.
