The Trump administration believes Oman gave Iran excessive concessions in negotiations over control of the Strait of Hormuz, AP reports, citing sources. Washington objects to proposed joint control of the strait’s entry and exit points and transit fees for shipowners. Trump said on August 17 that he was unhappy with Oman and threatened to “bomb the hell out of” the sultanate if it obstructed efforts to resolve the US-Iran conflict.
