SocietySpain investigates possible shotgun wounds on one of the world’s oldest orcas
Spanish officials opened a preliminary investigation after Toñi, the oldest known Iberian orca, was found with fresh marks on her dorsal fin and back. Conservation groups believe roughly 10 impacts may be shotgun pellet wounds, though authorities have not concluded she was shot. Toñi is currently swimming and hunting normally.
