ScienceAssessment finds South China Sea islands and reefs generally in good condition
A bulletin from China’s South China Sea Bureau says the ecological conditions of nine surveyed islands and reefs are generally good but vary considerably. Xisha is showing signs of recovery and Huangyan Dao has 135 recorded reef-building coral species, while some reefs have severely deteriorated because of crown-of-thorns starfish, cyclones and human activity.
