PoliticsBrazil election: Lula and the new face of Bolsonaro’s right

Brazil’s October presidential election is taking shape as another contest between the Lula and Bolsonaro camps. Incumbent Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is seeking a fourth term, while Flávio Bolsonaro is standing in for his imprisoned father. The two leading candidates are close in the polls: Lula is emphasizing Brazil’s sovereignty amid tensions with Washington, while Flávio is drawing on his family’s far-right base and links to Donald Trump.
