WorldDanube water level at lowest point in 100-150 years — Serbian Interior Ministry
Serbia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said the Danube has fallen to its lowest level in 100 to 150 years, making forest-fire suppression more difficult because water is needed for firefighting. Thirty-two fires have been contained nationwide, though efforts in the Deliblato Sands reserve remain hindered by difficult terrain. The drought was caused by hot weather and a lack of rain in Central and Eastern Europe.
