The WHO says the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is now the second-largest ever recorded, with 4,449 confirmed cases and 2,061 deaths. About 90% of cases and 80% of deaths are in Ituri Province, where sustained transmission and unidentified chains are hampering the response.
