ScienceCan a drug prevent the effects of childhood trauma?
Researchers in Munich and Stockholm found that giving the compound SAFit2 to mothers while their offspring experienced early adversity prevented the mice from later being pushed to the bottom of social hierarchies. The drug targets FKBP51 and reversed some brain and behavioral changes, but worked only during the stressful period. The study involved male mice, and SAFit2 is not yet approved or safety-tested for human use.
