SocietyAirservices Australia says Sydney airport Virgin-Qantas incident did not require mandatory report

Airservices Australia defended not immediately reporting an incident in which a Virgin plane aborted take-off as a Qantas aircraft crossed the runway ahead. Chief executive Rob Sharp said the planes were still more than 1km apart when clearances were withdrawn. The ATSB, notified four days later, called the runway incursion a safety concern and opened an investigation.
