TechMeta adds AI screening to detect WhatsApp scams

Meta is limited-beta testing an optional WhatsApp Scam Alert feature that uses on-device machine learning to identify suspicious messages and privately warn users. They can block, report, continue chatting, or mark a conversation trusted. Meta says message content stays on the device for classification and nothing is automatically reported.
