Sports‘Lauf’ and ‘minceur’ help 13-year-old Melbourne newcomer become world Scrabble champion

Dineth Fernando, 13, moved from Sri Lanka to Melbourne with his family in February and has now won the 2026 World Youth Scrabble Championships in Nairobi. He played 24 games against more than 130 competitors from 15 countries, becoming only the third Australian representative to claim the title.
