David McBride, jailed for leaking military secrets about Australia’s involvement in Afghanistan, has been granted parole after serving 27 months. He had pleaded guilty to stealing and sharing top-secret defence documents and will complete the remainder of his five-year-eight-month sentence under supervision in the community while receiving treatment for lung cancer.
