PoliticsWisconsin Democrats choose moderate Crowley for governor’s race

Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley narrowly defeated democratic socialist Francesca Hong in Wednesday’s Democratic primary for Wisconsin governor. His margin was less than one percentage point, making the result a strikingly close victory. The contest highlights a divide within the party between establishment candidates and an insurgent progressive movement. That split is emerging ahead of the 2026 US midterm elections.
