HealthWHO: Ebola outbreak in DR Congo began months before it was announced
The World Health Organization says an Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo had already begun months before it was publicly announced. The first cases were wrongly diagnosed as malaria, typhoid fever or infection with a more common Ebola virus. Those mistaken diagnoses delayed accurate recognition of the outbreak and obscured its early emergence.
