TechApple could help prove your iPhone photos aren’t deepfakes
Apple appears to be working on an iOS feature that could verify whether a photo was captured with an iPhone camera. 9to5Mac says code in iOS 27 beta 5 refers to an “Apple Reference Image” system. The system may add provenance metadata to photographs at the moment they are taken. That could give users a way to demonstrate where an image came from and distinguish genuine iPhone captures from deepfakes.
