PoliticsThe copyright case that helped remove Russia’s only antiwar party from next month’s ballot
Russia’s Supreme Court has ordered opposition party Yabloko removed from the ballot for the State Duma election. Yabloko says it will appeal, so the ruling is not yet legally effective. Rodina brought the lawsuit last Friday, alleging a range of violations, including copyright infringement, illegal campaigning, and support for extremism. Judge Vyacheslav Kirillov heard the case. He declared the human rights group International Memorial “extremist” this spring.
