Russia’s Supreme Court has ruled that the Yabloko party cannot take part in the upcoming contest for the State Duma, the lower chamber of parliament. Judge Vyacheslav Kirillov granted a lawsuit brought by lawyers representing the Rodina party. The decision removes the country’s only antiwar party from the parliamentary race. Yabloko’s exclusion follows the court’s acceptance of Rodina’s legal challenge.
