SportsInfantino denies affair allegation as FIFA condemns ‘concerted’ effort to weaken him

FIFA issued a statement on Saturday defending president Gianni Infantino against what it described as a “concerted and ongoing effort” to undermine his leadership of the organisation. The statement followed a British newspaper report a day earlier alleging that Infantino paid off a former lover during his time at UEFA. Infantino has categorically denied the allegations. FIFA presented its response as a defence of its president amid the dispute.
