PoliticsJudge approves Trump effort to end South Sudan TPS protections
A federal judge has ruled that the Trump administration may proceed with ending temporary protected status for hundreds of South Sudanese nationals living in the United States. Patti Saris, a US district judge in Massachusetts, rejected a bid by immigrant rights groups to preserve the protections. The decision follows a Supreme Court ruling allowing the government to remove TPS protections for Haitians and Syrians. The South Sudanese recipients’ status is now set to end.
