CultureCulture Ministry: More than 5,000 artifacts smuggled out of Iraq since 2003
Iraq’s deputy minister for culture, tourism and antiquities, Qasem al-Sudani, said more than 5,000 artifacts had been smuggled out of the country since 2003. The agency is tracking the appearance of Iraqi artifacts at state and private auctions. Officials are monitoring these sales as locations where the objects may surface.
