Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered an olive branch to the young people behind India’s biggest student-led protests in years. The gesture has done little to halt what many participants say are continuing online attacks and police action. Protesters maintain that they are still facing both forms of pressure. The response has therefore failed to calm the treatment they describe.
