WorldNigerian forces free more than 300 hostages abducted by militants
Nigerian security forces have rescued more than 300 people abducted by militants. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu called the operation successful and described it as the country’s largest single-day hostage recovery. Military, police and counter-terrorism units worked together to free captives held in dense forest inside Kainji Lake national park in the north-central region. The rescue came as Nigeria continues to face endemic kidnapping for ransom and worsening insecurity.
