SocietyFrance’s timber industry races to process wildfire-charred trees

Fires across France have left behind vast quantities of cut and burned timber. More than 35,000 metric tons of trees were felled urgently to create firebreaks and help slow the flames. The timber industry is now under intense strain as it tackles the aftermath. Removing and processing all the wood is expected to take more than two years.
