HealthWHO urges intensified response as DR Congo Ebola cases near 4,000

The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo is spreading as infections rise rapidly. The seventeenth outbreak, declared in mid-May, has already killed more than 1,700 people. The World Health Organization is calling for an “intensified” medical response. Medical teams have been dispatched, specialised centres opened in the hardest-hit provinces, and trials for an effective vaccine are continuing.
