ScienceSpain’s ‘Galactic Shepherd’ to watch total eclipse from DIY observatory

Retired shepherd Joaquin Tapioles is preparing to watch next week’s total solar eclipse from a small Spanish farming village. The event is described as the first total eclipse in a century. Tapioles built the observatory himself after childhood fascination with the mysteries of the sky inspired him to create a place for observing the rare spectacle.
